The natural feeling

“We don’t remember the exact moment when we realized we were in love. I think it was more of a gradual process for us, from becoming colleagues to friends to close friends and finally partners. We were in the same laboratory working on very similar projects, hence most of our experimental challenges were similar too. That was probably how our interactions progressed, we started discussing our projects in the beginning and later moved on to know each other. We realized we had a lot in common in terms of our ideals, food, travel, and many more, but at the same time, we are very different personalities.

There was no official proposal per se and probably was never required between us, I think we both felt the same. Although her parents were a bit skeptical in the beginning because they were not exactly open to inter-caste marriage but once they saw how we liked each other and how compatible we were, they came around. At the back of our minds, we knew we wanted to spend our lives together; the marriage was just a societal validation we had to agree upon.

Nothing changed post our marriage. We didn’t move out of the institute; stayed in our hostels, ate the mess food, and worked in the same laboratory like we used to. Ever since we were together, we were content to see each other every day in the laboratory, and therefore we didn’t need extra time to spend with each other. However, we…
