One step at a time
“My PhD topic is an amalgamation of race, class and totalitarianism in Harry Potter through the lens of the readers. I had been an avid reader since my childhood and Harry Potter has always held a special place in my heart. Its position as a fictional novel worthy enough for research is quite controversial. However I was always determined to work on it and prove otherwise.
Although I had cousins and friends in school, my childhood was practically isolated. Therefore, novels became like an escape for me. My mother fell very sick after I was born, so I was mostly brought up by my father and elder sister. They ensured I was protected and had a normal upbringing. I was born at a time when the world was going through a lot of changes. I remember being four or five years old when the first computer came to India. My father bought it and I became a computer freak watching anime on it all day long. There was no WiFi during those times and the broadband bill used to be humongous. But my father never complained and gave me the freedom to enjoy my life.
My school, Loreto Elliot Road, where I spent twelve years of my life, had a huge influence on me. A part of my upbringing was also fulfilled by my school teachers and the school…
