“I have always been passionate about teaching and very early in life, I realized a PhD degree would be the minimum qualification to apply for a professorship in India. I started teaching high school students alongside my Bachelor’s; not only did I enjoy it, but it also became a mode of financial sustenance since my father passed away when I was in Standard XII.

I got placed in TCS through campus placement and was offered a package of 30k per month but I was sure that I wouldn’t fit into a corporate world and instead joined as a lecturer in the suburbs of Chennai with a salary of only 12k per month. It was an amazing experience for me; I treated my students like friends, often went out with them for a walk when it was needed or lunch and dinner. Now, many of them invite me for their weddings and we catch up whenever I visit home. However, after two years of teaching engineering, I started finding it dull and wanted to explore other areas of academia. So I gave CAT, but when I got a call from IIMs, I chose not to pursue it.

I was lucky enough to be selected to pursue my PGD in Liberal Arts and Leadership, Young India Fellowship at Ashoka University. The richness of the multi-disciplinary experience that I had during my postgraduation enabled me to apply for. PhD in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources (OB&HR) at IIM.
